Recovering from Common Access Issues

Recovering from Common Access Issues

Having trouble signing in or accessing company files? Don’t panic — here’s how to get back on track quickly.

Forgot Your Microsoft 365 Password?

If you’ve forgotten your password or can't log in:

  1. Visit https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com

  2. Enter your work email address.

  3. Follow the prompts to verify your identity and reset your password.

Tip: This process only works if your account is enrolled in self-service password reset. If it doesn't work, reach out to IT via support.parkerbass.com.

How to Change Your Password (If You Know It)

You can update your password anytime:

  1. Go to https://myaccount.microsoft.com

  2. Sign in if prompted.

  3. Click Security info or Password on the left.

  4. Follow the steps to change your password.

Use a strong password you haven’t used elsewhere. Avoid using your name, birthday, or simple patterns like “1234.”

“I Don’t Have Access to This File or Site”

If you click a SharePoint or OneDrive link and get a “You don’t have access” message, it could be:

  • You’re not signed into the correct Microsoft account

  • The file wasn’t shared with you

  • Your role doesn’t include access to that department’s SharePoint site

✅ What to Check:

  • Make sure you're signed into the correct work account

  • Ask the person who sent the link to double-check permissions

  • Submit a request to IT if you believe you should have access
