First Login: Company Computer vs Personal Computer
This guide explains what to expect the first time you sign in to your Microsoft 365 account — whether you’re on a company-managed device or your personal laptop.
First Login from a Company Computer
Log in using the username and temporary password provided
You’ll be prompted to change your password immediately
Open Chrome or Edge — you should be automatically redirected to complete:
Microsoft 365 sign-in
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) enrollment
After setup, you’ll be automatically signed into:
Outlook (for email/calendar)
Teams
OneDrive (in File Explorer)
First Login from a Personal Computer (BYOD)
Go to https://www.office.com
Click Sign In
Use your work email and temporary password
You’ll be prompted to:
Create a new password
Enroll in MFA using the Microsoft Authenticator app
Once signed in, you can:
Use web versions of Outlook, Teams, and other apps
Optionally install OneDrive and Office desktop apps (see BYOD policy)
