Using PaperCut Print Deploy

Using PaperCut Print Deploy

PaperCut Print Deploy allows printers to be automatically installed on your computer based on your location and login. It ensures you have access to the right printers without needing IT assistance or admin rights.

First-Time Setup (Windows)

When you sign in to a company-owned device for the first time:

  1. Print Deploy will automatically launch in the background.

  2. You’ll be prompted to sign in with Microsoft — click the "Login with Microsoft" button.

  3. Once signed in, your default printers will install automatically.

If you don’t sign in to the Print Deploy app, your printers will not install.

Printing

Once printers are installed, you can print as usual from any application. The printers appear in your list as if they were installed manually.

Some organizations use secure print release, which means your print jobs will not print until you authenticate at a copier.

Need a Different Printer?

If you need to print to a different printer (e.g., another location or specialty printer):

  1. Open the Print Deploy Client from your system tray (near the clock).

  2. Go to the Add Printers tab.

  3. Select and install any available optional printers.

🔍 You can search for printers by name or location.

Troubleshooting

"Well this is awkward" error

  • The client can’t contact the server.

  • Make sure your device has internet access and can reach the PaperCut server.

Failed Printer Install

  • This can occur due to an unsigned or incompatible driver.

  • Make sure your computer uses a supported Windows or macOS version.

  • Contact IT if the issue persists.

"Access Denied" or UAC Prompt

  • Windows requires admin rights to install new printer drivers.

  • IT may preinstall drivers or use alternatives like Mobility Print or Type-4 drivers to avoid this.

"We can’t find any printers for you"

  • Your user may not match any zone filters.

  • Or the Add Printers list is empty.

  • Contact IT to ensure your user and device are mapped to the correct zone.

Shared Machines (Labs / Front Desks)

If you’re using a shared computer, the Print Deploy app supports shared logins. Only your printers will appear under your login.

Compatibility Notes

  • Windows and macOS supported

  • ARM-based machines may require special drivers or Mobility Print
